Beaches are amoungst my favourite places in the world. Not crowded Summer beaches full of other people, but the empty expanses of sand and rock in the other 3 seasons.
This is Dunnett Beach in Caithness. I took this in October 2025, I like the light and the space.
Here on Findhorn Beach the beach huts and the sand and shingle where fairly quiet on a bright sunday afternoon in October
Once on the beach it is good to see how people use it , here someone is letting her dogs out on Garlieston Beach
On the beach I try to look for interesting birds
Common gulls, hanging around
Oystercatcher and the Wave
Sanderling
Or even dried seaweed
Kelp
Shells in the sand
Crab Shell
Ring Plover flying past
